Logitech ClearChat PC Wireless Headset

Logitech ClearChat PC Wireless Review

Wireless computer gaming headsets are becoming an essential part of any modern gamer’s equipment. The freedom that a wireless headset provides appeals to anyone, but can a wireless headset really match the performance, clarity and comfort of its wired counterparts? The Logitech ClearChat PC Wireless Gaming Headset makes an impressive entry.

The ClearChat does it all, working equally well for playing PC games, listening to music, or for standard PC-based communications such as Skype.

The ClearChat uses a USB dongle that immediately sets the headset as the PC’s speakers. The ease-of-use factor is most attractive with no complicated setup involved. Simply plug in the dongle, power up the headset and you’re all set. The ClearChat works just as well on Mac as on PCs and can be purchased through this link.

The ClearChat has an embedded battery in the headset’s right earcup. With a 2.5-hour charge from included AC adapter, you’ll get about 6 hours of use. The headset can still be used while it’s charging. Logitech tells you the device works within 33 feet, but most users say it’s more between 20 and 25 feet. Beyond that you’ll probably get an annoying static dropout. But the ClearChat comes with a 7-foot USB extension cradle for the dongle which will help to expand the transmission distance.

Take a look at the features:

  • 2.4 GHz wireless: Move freely up to 25 feet away from your computer
  • Laser-tuned audio drivers: For high-quality, uncompressed, stereo audio
  • Noise-canceling microphone
  • Quick-access audio controls: Adjust volume and microphone mute right on the headset
  • For use with: PC games, movies, music and common calling applications including Skype, Yahoo!, Windows Live, and AIM
  • Plush headband and ear pads
  • Microphone mute light: Microphone tip softly glows when muted.

Pros:

  • Wireless USB communications
  • USB dongle requires no software installation
  • Rechargeable battery
  • Windows and Mac compatible

Cons:

  •  May be tight for those with larger heads
  • Some users find Skype voice garbled

What current users have to say:

From dargo2001: I bought this headset, so I could use skype without having to be tethered to my laptop. I tried a bluetooth headset previously, and I was told that my voice sounded tinny. With this new headset, people say they can hear me very clearly, and I can hear them very clearly. Read the whole review.

From B. Duey: I’ve had these headphones for over a year. Originally purchased for online university they have proven good for webex, games, music and even Netflix. The range is awesome in my house, I can walk to every corner and still get reception. I would definitely buy them again if needed.

While the Logitech ClearChat Wireless Headset has received some negative reviews, overall it surpasses many other headsets in its price range.
